SEO · ONE-TIME ENGINEERING PASS

SEO THAT FINISHES.

A one-time engineering pass, $1,500–$2,000, scoped in writing before it starts. We fix the structure, the markup and the mobile performance — then hand you the document and the baseline. No retainer.

SEO ENGINEERING PASS

$1,500–$2,000

One-time. Paid upfront, scoped in writing before any work starts.

The range reflects site size and platform, and lands on one number before you pay anything.

THE PASS

SIX THINGS, DONE ONCE.

This is the whole list. It is published for the same reason the price is: an engagement you can read in full before you buy is one you can hold us to.

01

Technical Foundation

Crawlability, indexation, canonicals, redirect chains, sitemap and robots correctness. The unglamorous layer that decides whether anything else you do is even visible to a crawler. We fix it once, properly, rather than reporting on it monthly.

02

Site Structure And Internal Linking

Pages are grouped into topic families with one page per query family — no two pages fighting over the same head term. Internal links are treated as a managed asset, not as whatever the navigation happens to produce.

03

Structured Data

One canonical organization entity, real Service and Offer nodes with the actual published prices, breadcrumbs that reflect the real hierarchy, and FAQ markup on pages that genuinely answer questions. Entity work, not decoration.

04

Local Search

Google Business Profile completeness and categorisation, NAP consistency across every surface that carries it, and location pages that say something true of that town and false of the next one.

05

Mobile Performance

Core Web Vitals budgeted against a mid-tier Android phone on a normal connection, not against a desktop on office wifi: LCP under 2.5s, CLS under 0.1, INP under 200ms. Mobile performance is a ranking input, which is why it sits in this pass and not in the design pass.

06

The Handover Document

Every change, why it was made, and what to watch. Plus the measured baseline captured before we touched anything, so the next measurement means something.

SCOPE

WHAT THIS IS NOT.

Said plainly, because the difference between this and the thing most businesses have bought before is the entire point of the offer.

  • A monthly retainer that bills whether or not there is work to do
  • A rank-tracking dashboard sold as a deliverable
  • Bulk directory submissions or purchased links
  • Content volume for its own sake

If the answer to your problem is an AI assistant recommending you rather than a blue link, the AEO pass is the one you want — and if you are not sure which, the free Odin audit will tell you where you actually stand in about thirty seconds.

What both passes look like done properly, written up in full: the SEO and AEO build behind a 126-page site.

STRAIGHT ANSWER

WHAT WE CLAIM, AND WHAT WE DO NOT.

Clients typically see movement in 14 to 90 days, measured against a baseline we capture before the work starts. This is a typical-results claim, not a guarantee.

We do not offer performance guarantees, we do not promise a specific ranking or a specific number of leads, and there is no “we keep going until it works” clause. What we do instead is measure: a baseline is captured before the work starts, and the same measurements are re-run afterwards, so the change is something you can check rather than something we assert.

FAQ

SEO QUESTIONS.

How much does SEO cost?

+

An SEO engineering pass is $1,500–$2,000 CAD, one time. It is not a monthly retainer. The number is fixed in writing before any work starts, and it is the number you pay — we do not bill hourly against it.

Why is SEO a one-time pass instead of a monthly retainer?

+

Because most of the work that actually moves a small or mid-sized site is engineering, and engineering finishes. Crawlability, structure, internal linking, schema and mobile performance are fixed once and stay fixed. Selling that as an open-ended monthly fee is how the industry ended up with retainers that produce a report instead of a result. If you later want ongoing content or measurement, that is a separate decision you make with the data in front of you.

What is the difference between SEO and AEO?

+

SEO wins a place in a ranked list of links. AEO — answer engine optimization — wins a place inside the answer an AI assistant generates. They share inputs (structured data, authority, a clean site) but they produce different artifacts and are bought separately here, each at $1,500 to $2,000. If you only do one, do the one your buyers actually use.

How long does SEO take to work?

+

Clients typically see movement in 14 to 90 days, measured against a baseline we capture before the work starts. The range is that wide because three different clocks are running: re-crawl, re-index, and the slower re-evaluation of a page's place in a topic. This is a typical-results claim, not a guarantee — we do not promise a specific ranking.

Do I need a new website first?

+

Often, no. An engineering pass works on the site you have, and if the site is structurally sound we will say so and take the smaller job. If it is not — if the platform cannot emit clean markup or the mobile performance cannot be fixed without a rebuild — we will tell you that before you pay, because spending $1,500 on a site that needs $5,000 of rebuild is a waste of your money and our time.

Do you work outside Edmonton?

+

Yes. Unconventional Group is Edmonton-based and has been since 2023, and the engineering pass is not geography-dependent — we work with businesses across Alberta and Canada. The local-search portion of the pass is the part that is tuned to your specific market.
