Start With a Baseline

THE PROBLEM

NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE ASSISTANTS SAY ABOUT THEM.

A growing share of buying decisions now starts with a question typed into an assistant rather than a search box. When that happens, the assistant names two or three businesses and the rest of the market is simply absent from the conversation — and unlike a search result, there is no ranking report that tells you which one you were.

You can check this yourself, once, by asking. What you cannot do by hand is ask consistently, across several assistants, several times per question, week after week, and keep the answers in a form you can compare. That is the instrument this product is.

HOW IT WORKS

FIXED QUESTIONS. REPEATED HONESTLY.

01

Your Prompt Set

We build 20 to 40 buyer-intent prompts with you — the questions a real customer types into an assistant, like "who is the best commercial electrician in Edmonton", not keyword strings. The set is then fixed. It has to be: a number is only comparable over time if the question did not move.

02

Baseline Capture

Before any visibility work happens, we run the whole set across the assistants and record, per prompt: whether you were mentioned, where in the answer, whether your domain was cited as a source, and which competitors appeared instead. That is the number every later number is compared to.

03

Weekly Runs

Same prompts, same parameters, every week. Each prompt is run several times per period, because assistants are nondeterministic and a single answer is an anecdote. We keep every raw response — the audit trail is the point, not a by-product.

04

Scoring

Four measures, per assistant and blended: mention rate, citation rate, average position within the answer, and share of voice against every brand the assistants name. They roll into a single 0–100 Visibility Score with a published formula, because a score you cannot audit is a score you cannot act on.

05

The Dashboard And The Report

Score over time, per-assistant breakdown, per-prompt detail with the actual response text, competitor movement, and a change log that ties score movement to work that shipped. Monthly summary by email. Mobile-first, like everything else here.

THE SCORE

FOUR MEASURES, ONE NUMBER, PUBLISHED FORMULA.

The Visibility Score is a 0–100 roll-up of the four measures below. The formula is shown in the dashboard rather than kept proprietary, because an unexplained score is unsellable and unauditable — and because you should be able to tell which of the four moved.

Mention rate

The share of your prompt set where an assistant names your business at all. The most basic question — are you in the conversation?

Citation rate

The share where the assistant cites your own domain as a source. Being named is good; being the source is better, and it is a different signal.

Average position

Where you land when several businesses are listed. First in a list of five is a different outcome from fifth.

Share of voice

Your mentions as a proportion of every brand mention across the set. This is the one that tells you whether you gained ground or the category simply got busier.

This measures. The one-time AEO pass is the work that tries to move what is measured. They are sold separately on purpose, so you can buy the instrument without buying the intervention.

FAQ

TRACKING QUESTIONS.

How much does AI visibility tracking cost?

+

$200/month CAD, with a 3-month minimum. After the minimum term it is month to month.

Why is there a three-month minimum?

+

Because AI assistants are nondeterministic — ask the same question twice and you can get two different answers, with no change to your site in between. One month of data cannot separate a real trend from that noise. Three months can. That is the actual reason, and it is a better one than a lock-in clause.

Which AI assistants do you track?

+

The assistants your buyers actually use — ChatGPT, Claude, Google's AI answers, Perplexity and Gemini. The set is reviewed as the market moves, because the list of assistants that matter in 2026 is not the list that mattered in 2024.

Is this a rank tracker?

+

No, and the distinction matters. A rank tracker tells you where a page sits in a list of links. This measures whether a generated answer names you, cites you, and how you compare to the other businesses named in the same answer. Different artifact, different measurement, different work behind it.

Do I need the AEO pass first?

+

No, but they work together, and most clients start with the baseline. Tracking on its own tells you where you stand and whether anything is moving. The one-time AEO pass at $1,500 to $2,000 is the work that tries to move it. Buying the tracking first and the pass later is a perfectly reasonable order — you will have a real baseline by the time the work starts.

What happens if the score does not move?

+

You see that, in the same dashboard, with the raw responses behind it. There is no guarantee attached to this product and no performance clause — it is a measurement instrument, and an honest one is occasionally going to tell you something you did not want to hear. The change log exists so you can see which work coincided with which movement, including the work that did not.
